About Us

The name Tagliare comes from the Italian verb meaning “to cut” or “to slice”—a nod to the heart of what we do.

 

From cured meats and cheeses to fresh bread and produce and house-made sauces, everything starts with great ingredients, cut with care and assembled with intention. It’s a tradition rooted in Italian delis, where quality, simplicity, and technique matter more than shortcuts.

Our Story


Tagliare Delicatessen opened in Missoula in 2008 with a simple idea: bring the craft and soul of an old-world Italian deli to Montana. ​Over the years, we’ve become known not just for our Italian imports and stacked sandwiches, but for a personality that blends classic deli craftsmanship with a little rock-and-roll edge—including naming all our sandwiches after rock-and-roll bands.

Today, Tagliare thrives under the dedicated care of Matt and Kira Benzel (and the team they’ve built), who continue to honor the deli’s roots while expanding its reach. Since taking over in 2018, they’ve strengthened their presence in the community, including opening a second shop in the Old Sawmill District.

We are so grateful for our loyal community that appreciates bold flavors, scratch-made food, and sandwiches done the right way. Whether you’re grabbing a longtime favorite or discovering us for the first time, we hope to exceed your expectations.
